Christopher S. Writes – “Bulky Old Papa Smurf Hog. Grandpa needed a whopping THREE seats to rest his mass on a packed downtown 1 train. I might have let it slide (respect your elder hogs, kids) but then a woman very politely said, “Excuse me,” and nodded to the two extra seats he was slopped over. Rather than move, he grumbled, “I’m getting off at the next stop.” AND THEN HE DIDN’T. Of course, in my effort to step back so I could get a full perspective shot, I smashed my bag into some guy’s face. So.”

Can pictures of these HOGS be posted in the trains they ride? Can someone explain why men spread their legs so wide apart on the bus or train? When did common courtesy become outdated? Yesterday I saw a guy take up two seats. One for his butt and one for his bag. Crowded train. When I asked if I could “please” sit in the seat, he grabbed his bag violently and slammed it on his knees. I sat for 5 stops with the bag knocking me in the knee. When I got off, he slammed the bag on the seat again so the woman about to take the seat had to stand. Rude, ignorant, brain dead piece of work.
You really need to get the word out in London about this site – there are some shocking Seat Hogs over here, especially on the buses and overground trains (not so much on the tube because it’s so packed that it’s impossible to hog seats, though people try). Take it international!
This guy definitely has a wide, wide spread. And I bet it’s soft and mushy. Probably best to avoid any kind of close contact — even if it means standing all the way to your destination.
Heata, seat hogging is sadly the norm these days. As long as bus companies and drivers refuse to acknowledge the problem, let alone DO something about it, these rude self-centered hogs will continue to act the way they do. Some even gloat about their behavior, knowing they can get away with it and flaunt themselves. Most don’t like it when you take a picture of them. Some will threaten you, call you names, harass you, etc.
Best of all, newer buses are equipped with cameras so all the action is recorded. Let’s hope they also catch seat hogs.
